Learning Vocabulary
Dear Students,
Remember that your goal (= objective) is to learn many (MANY!) words in English. In the long term, it is best that you do this by NOT just translating the word English-Spanish. It is better to work with the word by...
1) writing a synonym
2) writing an antonym
3) giving a visual representation (i.e. drawing) the word.
4) using it in context (write a phrase).
5) defining the word
6) ?
7) ?
8) as a final resort...translate.
(What was 6 and 7?) Help me by writing a comment!

Week of Aug. 22
Hello Class,
This week we will explore Pythagoras's Theorem and, connected to English, study SHAPES, COLORS, and words used to COMPARE objects. Words that compare objects frequently end in "-er" or "-est". We also use the word "more" sometimes.
Click here to visit some interactive sites:
(It is not necessary that you write comparatives, but you need to comprehend comparatives when you read).
Video: comparatives with countries (i.e. Russia, China, Chile, England, etc.)
(You can practice listening. Also, you can repeat to practice speaking English)

Class 1: Homework
Dear Students,
Note: understand = comprehend
Your homework is to visit this site and copy in your notebook all the words that you understand. Mark the words that are cognates (words that look similar and have the same meaning in English and Spanish).
Pythagoras Theorem
Now, select 5 words that do not understand but think are important to comprehend the text or math problem. Copy these words into your notebook. Look them up in a dictionary. Write the translation in Spanish and, if possible, a synonym in English.
